How Google Adwords Works?
Google Adwords is a tough beast. This beast is very difficult to master. But if you can master it, you have hit a goldmine. Dont simply just head over and start a Google Adwords account. Learn to tame this beast before you start your first advertising campaign on Adwords.
What you need to know is that Google will never let you advertise on its system with a poor Click Through Rate (CTR). CTR is very important for the success of your campaign is the number of clicks in 100 impressions your ad will receive. Learn good copy writing skills to write ads that attracts people. Always try to keep a CTR of at least 2% in your campaign.
The most important matrix for you to understand is the Quality Score. Google never tells how Quality Score is calculated exactly but gives you general guidelines. Good QS means very low minimum bid for each click. Quality Score can be Great, OK or Poor. If Quality Score is great, Google can charge you $0.02-0.04 as a minimum bid for your ad to become active.
Quality Score primarily depends on your website. Google likes to see a website that is relevant to the keyword that it is being advertised. If Google thinks that your website is relevant, it will assign your website a great quality score.
Optimize your website before you make a new campaign. Use some SEO. Google likes SEO. Be careful, once Google assigns a quality score to your website, it will not change its opinion afterwards.
First optimize each page of your site for one particular keyword. You will need to do some SEO for that. Only when you are satisfied that your site is relevant, make a new campaign using the optimized page for that keyword. Google likes to see quality content being advertised on its site and does not want to see poor website being advertised. Poor websites means poor user experience that harms Google in the long run.
Ad Rank is another matrix that you need to know. Ad Rank= (CTR) (Your Bid) (Quality Score). You can see; CTR and Quality Score are very important for your success. There is a quality score for each campaign as well as a general quality score of your Google Adwords Account.
Google also maintains a quality score of your general account. Your overall CTR in the account should never ever fall below 1% in my opinion. If your account gets assigned a poor quality score, it will affect your new campaign as well and if your account has a great quality score, Google will reward you more by assigning very low minimum bids for new campaigns as well. Be careful!
