Copywriting Generates More Traffic and Sales

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Quality copywriting can attract sales in a number of ways. Assuming you already have visitors to the site, it works by providing your visitors with quality information and resources. Quality copywriting lets the reader know that. It also lets the reader know why you are the best to buy from. This could be affordable prices, a large selection of products to choose from and much more.

Copywriting can create content that sells your products and services. It is necessary that there is good content creation and persuasive writing. Creating blog content and otheSEO works is a plus factor.

Good copywriting is all about making good sales letter. With a good sales pitch, you can make someone buy your product by evoking emotions. To learn how to do this, seek the help of the SEO copywriter.

Continue to market and make new products. Even though you might have a good copywriting ad for your website, you increase your profit margin when you offer new products. More products equals more customers.

Construct a Strong Headline

Make your headline short and specific. Online readers have limited attention spans. They may be scanning a list of hundreds titles or links, with only split seconds to decide which articles to read. If your title is long and bulky, they wont pick up the gist of it while they scan. Write a title that can be understood in a glance, and youll get more attention.

Balance the Facts and Benefits

When making a sales letter, the real objective is to convince buyers so the most appropriate thing to do is to list as many benefits as possible so that buyers have lots of reasons to get this product or service that you are selling. But if you leave out the facts, some may take it as a hype letter or others may think that you are exaggerating. Dont forget to backup these benefits with facts too so people that are into more technical specifications can be tempted as well. Emphasizing too much on facts makes the article boring and will still leave people wondering why they should get this product or service. Therefore, you should do your best in balancing the two.

Apply Search Engine Optimization Techniques

Copywriting on the web works a lot. But an article that is keyword rich can be indexed properly. Just optimize your headline so that people can see your headline in the search engine.

Before submitting for publication to sites that accept sales letter and promotional piece, check your work for any errors. Copywriting is your best tool not only to increase traffic to your website but to increase your sales and income.

3 Proven Punctuation Techniques for Website Copywriters

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Copywriters need to modify their punctuation (slightly) for an online audience. That’s because computer screens are harder to read than printed pages (due to their lower resolution and flicker).

Use these three tips to make sure readers understand the meaning of your online content:

1. Use Punctuation Sparingly: Punctuation marks help organise ideas and control the flow of sentences. But they easily get lost on-screen because they’re small.

That’s the reason why you should use punctuation sparingly online. Some tricks include using short sentences and short paragraphs. Arrange information into lists if possible. Ask yourself, “Can I get away without this punctuation?”

2. Don’t Use Semi Colons: I avoid using semi colons when writing online. They’re too easily mistaken for colons.

According to the popular writing style guide, Elements of Style by Strunk & White, the proper use of a semi colon is to join two independent clauses into a compound sentence. For example: “It’s nearly midnight; the restaurants will probably be closed.”

On the web you’re better off using an em-dash (long hyphen) or a period (full stop). E.g. “It’s nearly midnight ? the restaurants will probably be closed.” or “It’s nearly midnight. The restaurants will probably be closed.”

Also, it’s better to use em-dashes instead of hyphens in website copy. Hyphens are small. So they can more easily be overlooked than longer em-dashes.

3. Check Your Copy Offline: To make the best impression on your website visitors, your website copy must be free of grammatical and spelling errors. Typos and poor English can easily turn customers away.

So always do a spell check of your website copy in a word processor before you upload it. It’s also a good idea to print it out and get a colleague to proof read it as well. Once the content is live, you should check it again on-screen.
