Creating Effective Ads For The Classifieds

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

People use the classifieds to get people’s attention and there is no better way to do it.

You can post your ad in almost any media source such as newspapers or magazines. It is a great way of getting people to notice what you are trying to say.

The main thing that your ad will depend on is the way in which you write it. Creating an ad that is not written effectively will not draw in much traffic.

Know your ad type

No matter how well written your ad is it will not do you any good if you don’t submit it into the right place. People who are looking in the help wanted or the employment area are likely to only be looking for the ads pertaining to those specific categories.

If you are looking for someone to do a job for you then post your ad in the help wanted section. Be sure to include all of the job information to prevent any misunderstandings.

Place your for sale ads in the sales section. Don’t forget to place it in the proper sub category like baby clothes in the clothing section or a used couch in the furniture section.

If you are looking to provide a service to people such as being a handyman or even caring for their lawns then post those ads in the section marked services.

Writing your ad

The only way that you are going to get people to read your ad is by creating one that will pull people in. There are several ways in which you can accomplish this.

Short ads: The most effective ads are not those that use a lot of useless words in order to tell you something. Short and sweet is the best way to go.

Make the most of your words: Keep in mind that the words you use need to count. Never use a bunch of words that have nothing to do with what you are saying. Put in lots of information in as few words possible.

Don’t lie: Honesty is the best policy. Never falsely advertise any goods or services. This will save you from any future misunderstandings at a later time.

Proofread and edit: When you are finished with your ad go back over it and check for mistakes. Spelling and typing errors will need to be fixed before submitting your ads.

Attention getters: The use of bold text or capitalization is a great way to get people to notice your ads. You can also use words like cheap and free as attention getters.

If you are looking for a good form of advertisement that will not cost you an arm and a leg then classifieds are the way to go. There is usually a great choice of formats and sizes as well as imaging options. You need to use any means you can of pulling in everyone’s attention.

Don’t forget to put your email or phone number in the ads that you post. Your ad will be useless without them.

Why American Classifieds Can Work For You

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Sorting through the mess that is online classifieds can be quite a chore. Hundreds and thousands of sites that all tell you they will get your name out there and sell your product or promote your business. How are you supposed to tell them apart? You need to find a complete site that can off you regional breakdowns and even possibly a print ad. You need American Classifieds.

By doing a quick Google search, you will see that there are literally thousands of sites to choose from. Your head will spin if you have to go to each and every one of them to figure out their features. Unfortunately, most of the time you are going to be disappointed and upset that you are wasting your time.

However, do not dismiss the fact that choosing the right online classified ads can help out your business tenfold. You not only get exposure for your name, but you can also get your Google rank to improve if you are on the right site. Finding the right site and getting the right ad together will take some effort on your part, but it is definitely worth it.

You should also look into the upgrade services because they will increase your ranking even further. In most cases, you can list both your email and business link right in the ad by purchasing these services. Now you are creating back links and that means a higher Google rank!

American Classifieds makes it about as easy as you can imagine to get rolling. Signup is quick and painless and placing the ad is just as easy. You fill out your information and pick your region and the next thing you know, your ad is working for you!

Something that is a little different about American Classifieds is that they only run the initial ad for a week. Before you think this is a bad thing, think again. In most cases, your monthly ad is going to disappear after about a week anyway. As the new ads come in, this one gets pushed to the back and your ad becomes worthless. Not only that, but the upgrade services are significantly less when your ad runs for this period of time. In some cases, they are over 80% less!

Now the real kicker is that this is a site that can also offer you a print ad as well as internet ad! If you know anything about normal ads, you know that you will spend about $40 for three lines that will never be seen. They have a better chance of ending up on the bottom of the litter box than they do of being read. People get American Classifieds because they WANT to look at the ads, not because it is a part of the paper. You have a captive audience for only $3!

Keep all of this in mind as you did through the various ad services that you are going to find online. The more you look, the more likely you are to come to the conclusion that American Classifieds is where you need to be spending your money and placing your ad!

Classified Ads - The Advertising Solution For The Man On The Street

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Classified advertisement is a category of advertisement particularly tuned to meet the common mans advertising needs. The main advantage of classified advertising over the traditional one is that it is cheap and anybody can post an advertisement. Thus, private tutors and parents of children who need tutoring can find each other through classified ads. In the print media, such ads are classified into different categories to make it easy browsing for the pursuer.

The main categories one would usually find in the classified ad section of a newspaper are real estate, rent, automotive, pets and situations vacant etc. Certain magazines and papers like “Freeads” and “Admag” are dedicated entirely to listing classified ads. These ads are also found in the yellow pages section of many popular publications.

Sometimes these ads are found to be frugal in their use of words and phrases while at other times they are descriptive in nature. There might be ads that make quote very general information that gives a general idea about kind or class of product or service without going into details. At other times, these ads may be in rich detail and list out specifics about the product or service thereby allowing the ad browser to make a more informed decision.

The cost of an ad is calculated based on the number of words or letters used, the type and size of the font used, the space occupied by the advertisement on a page. There are additional factors that contribute to an increase in the price like the inclusion of graphics or highlighting of the ad space or even the positioning and placement of the ad box on a page.

The classified ads industry generates an annual income close to 100 billion dollars worldwide. This is not just from the ads displayed in the printed media though. There are television channels that air classified advertisements during non prime time slots. Cable television operators also make a quick buck out of selling local precuts of the cable network in the neighborhood. Radio stations also air advertisements in between programs that are sometimes funny and ear catching.

The huge popularity of the internet and the enormous resources that it gives access to has given rise to online advertising solutions that are giving the traditional classified advertising promoted by newspapers and the print media, a run for their money.

Free websites that charge nothing for posting an advertisement on their portal are viewed as distinctly more advantageous than newspaper classified ads, as they offer instant reach to millions of users and are indexed for browsing and easy searching across a variety of criteria. The revenue for these sites is in turn generated from the clicks that are made on other ads that are on display as well as the traffic they generate for other websites.

The advantages in ease of use and access to these web based advertising options have increasingly overshadowed the archaic and cumbersome process of advertising through the printed media. As the enormous resources of the internet and its access and appeal to the common man increase day by day, the threat that it poses to traditional forms of advertising increases proportionately.

Making Free Classified Ads Work for You

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

Something for nothing, we are all hoping we find it but it rarely if ever is the case. Well guess what, there finally is something that you can get for nothing that can possibly produce a job or let you earn some extra cash.

What’s the hitch is probably the next question you are going to ask, but there is no hitch. You are about to find out how you can post a listing, find a job or do just about anything you would do in a classified ad absolutely free.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way here. I am not talking about print classified ads, although there are some local papers that will actually do this. I am talking about the internet. Do a Google search and see how many responses you get when you type in the key phrase “free classified ads”, over 12,000,000! That is 12 million sites that will allow you to post various things 100% FREE!

With the availability of all of these, you can choose to do whatever you want but for our purposes here, we are aimed at mostly selling items or starting your own business and trying to find job. These are two areas that will usually cost you decent amount of cash but not if you make use of the free services we are discussing here.

With there being millions of sites to choose from, you must do so carefully. You can easily end up putting your information out on a scam site and that is not something any of us ever want to go through. No, we are going to stick with reputable social networking sites and marketplace sites that are tried and proven. These will give you an outlet 100x better than your local paper and are totally safe to use.

Major social networks and marketplace sites all have loyal followings that will drive traffic to you on a national if not world wide level. This is not something that could be achieved easily or cheaply in print media.

Placing your ad or starting your own page is quite simple at each one of these sites. If you can blog, you can have your own listing on any of the social networking sites and if you can type and follow directions, you can get an ad up on Craig List. They key to the success of your ad however, will depend on your keywords. Like anything, you need to make sure your point is being made in the title of your page or listing. This will ensure the most exposure on search engines, especially the internal search engines that each of these sites feature.

The best feature of all of these is that they are totally free. Unlike using a print ad, you don’t have to pay any up front costs. If you are selling something, you won’t have to pay a listing fee or commission to the site upon sale like you would for an auction site. And if you are looking for a job, you don’t have to pay a finders fee like you would a head hunting site. All the fee’s are paid for by advertising that is featured on the site. How much better can it get?

You are still reading? Get off the sofa and go look in your garage and see what you can sell. Better yet, maybe you can offer some type of service, i.e. cleaning, that will end up as your permanent source of income. Regardless, whether you are trying to sell something or looking for a job, get moving because the only money you are losing in this venture is future earnings!

Using Free Ads As Marketing Tools

Friday, April 10th, 2009

A marketing campaign always needs cash as your marketing should be considered and investment, but free ads can be used if your budget is miniscule. There are many free ad sites throughout the Internet where you can post your free ads. Individuals and companies tend to focus on their advertising when sales are down but if you are constantly working on ads your sales will not have a downturn. You want to keep your sales steady or even increasing and free ads can be a good tool to achieve this.

There are many websites that will allow you to post free ads but the content of your ad will be checked. To generate an increase in site traffic as well as sales you will need to construct your ad properly and then place it on the right section of the site or correct website.

Ultimately the free ad must solve a problem or bring some kind of benefit to the consumer otherwise what is the point. It is important to be clear and precise. If the message is lost underneath all of the decoration then you are not using the right kind of ads.

Many times individuals with products or services cannot afford to advertise in the top markets such as on TV or using ads placed in prime time radio spots or a full page spread in the Sunday paper. You can be very successful by posting your smaller free ads but posting them frequently and in the right categories.

Where you post your ads is important to generate more sales. You will need to find some free ad sites that either have different headings you can post under or a site that caters to a specific audience. You do not want to post your computer ad on a health and beauty website, the readers will ignore it or your ad will be erased.

When creating content in an ad remember that customers may think logically but they will always use emotion when making a purchase or decision. Many times they will come up with a logical explanation why they needed to make the purchase they just did, which was based of an emotional response. Design your ad so you will evoke an emotional response and you will be sure to see an increase in sales.

Posting your ads where your target audience can view them is also important. If you write music you do not want to post and ad detailing your services on a science website. The individuals that may want to use your services will not be using the science website. To keep up with your competitors you need to either match the amount of ads they are posting or try to exceed those numbers.

In order to build awareness you will need to expose as many individuals as possible to your ads. Most times free ads will only be posted for a specific amount of time so when that time is up you need to have another ad ready to replace the one that was just erased.
