Which Form Of Organisations Achieve The Most From Using Online Marketing And Particularly Website Optimization

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Firstly it is critical to recognise that, regardless of what Online Marketing firms may tell you, not every business will gain from having a decent Search Engine Placement listing. The most obvious reason for this is that not every sort of product, and especially service, can be sold via the web. So if you are in an trade that does not lend itself to online purchases you could throw your money away.

A good example of this type of business is a local convenience store. Of course it does a great job, making sure that local residents have access to the everyday items that can cause problems if you don’t have any in. However there is absolutely no market for these stores on the internet. Their customers are local by their very nature and because they do not typically buy in big quantities their prices are high and therefore not suitable for online buyers. The only real benefit to a company such as this being on the net is if there was a listing of their opening times and perhaps address and telephone number. Then those residents who live locally and don’t know they are there can identify them. Certainly not enough benefit there to warrant the spending on Online Marketing.

So the firms that will benefit from the extra sales a high Search Engine Placement position can bring are ones who have a product that is easy to buy online, electrical goods, CD’s, DVD’s Books, etc. If a business with this type of an offering is to make the most of it’s spend in getting that high search engine placement then it should be equipped. Prepared for a huge growth in demand. So sales employees, stock, storage and delivery all need to be taken into account, will every aspect of the procedure stand up to the increased demand or is there an area that will flounder? The Search Engine Optimization Company that put the business in the top few searches will still want their dues whether the business has made the most of the chance or not.

Also a business should be ready for the number of overseas enquiries. Can you deliver abroad, what are the requirements and are there any special packaging implications? If the business sells a service, can it deliver that service abroad? If not you will need to find a way to cope with the many enquiries that you get from overseas and do so in a cost effective way, maybe by selling them on to a provider in their own country. Either way it is vital that there is a system in place.

Lastly a business that will gain the most from online marketing, if it has covered the above two main criteria, is one which wants to grow. There is very little point in spending money on obtaining a decent Search Engine Placement if the business is happy with current sales figures and does not particularly want to grow. It is almost definite that the online marketing will result in this and of course will cause a headache for those at the top.

Improve Your Web Site To Achieve Top Search Rankings

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Improving your search engine rankings always begins with thorough keyword research. By identifying the right keywords to help you achieve your optimization campaigns, you stay ahead of the competition and make the vision of number one rankings a reality. After you’ve selected the right keywords the next step is to focus your efforts towards on page optimization. This is where you apply some techniques to your web pages to ensure top rankings.

There are a number of important on page optimization factors to consider when optimizing your web pages. I have found three factors in particular to have more of an impact than others when correlating them to search engine rankings. In particular, meta tags, URL structure, and page load speed all have a direct impact on search engine rankings for particular keywords or keyword phrases.

Meta tags are important because they provide some basic information to search engine spiders. Properly formatted meta tags go a long way towards enhancing search engine rankings. My research as shows that meta tags by themselves cannot radically improve rankings. However, they may be used to verify other aspects of your website and are important for getting users to click through from search engine results.

Meta tags should include a title tag which has your most important keywords and contains no more than 60 characters. This is the number of characters that can be displayed on Google search results. Your description tag which is also displayed in search results after a user does a search engine query, should be no more than 150 characters. This tag is most effective when mentioning your keywords two times.

The last meta tag worthy of description is the keyword tag. I see this tag misused all too often and it may actually be hurting your search engine rankings. When using a keyword tag, focus on only a dozen of your most important and highly trafficked keywords. You want the search engines to know that you are an authority site and worthy of top rankings. Do your research and only include the keywords that truly matter. You can also evaluate the sites in the top positions and model their keywords as long as they are included on your web site or blog.

Once you have your meta tags within your web page code it’s time to focus on the next on page optimization factor. The load time of your web pages matter a great deal to Google and other search engines. Not only does your web page need to be formatted correctly but it needs to load quickly. Fast loading web sites mean a better user experience. Search engines like Google reward you for providing the right information quickly to web site browsers. Try to keep load times to a minimum and continually work to improve the speed at which your site loads.

The last factor we are going to discuss here is URL structure. The ideal structure is to have your most important keyword in the URL root. The root of a site would be here: www.keyword.com. If a URL is not available that doesn’t include your keyword, use an aged domain that you can add a folder or subdirectory to. An example would be mysite.com/keyword or keyword.mysite.com. These examples, we are adding our keyword “root” to either domain. Again, this is not as good as having the keyword in your root but is valuable if the domain you need in not available.

Don’t start any optimization program until you have taken a serious look at your on page optimization factors. With a well laid out web site that includes properly formatted meta tags, loads quickly, and has a URL which is properly formatted, you’ll be way ahead of the competition.

SEO vs SEM: What Is It And Why Is It Important to Know?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

SEO and SEM are both used almost interchangable, they commonly are bandied by webmasters. Is there really a difference? If there is a difference, what is it?

For starters, SEM is an abbreviation for Search Engine Marketing, and is a broad label that covers pretty much anything that will get your site listed more visibly in search engine results. This can range from utilizing back links to deliberately submitting your URL to search engines. By contrast, SEO is narrower, and stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a subcategory of SEM, but any individual SEM operation does not necessarily contain SEO.

It?s important to know the difference between the two terms; make sure you ask for all information if your unsure before going and spending money on a SEO or SEM package. For example, a company offers you a package, if you don?t ask and get all the information, you might be buying into a package that merely is the company submitting your website URL to a few search engines, something you can easily do yourself.

You need to find out very specifically what a company will do to help you become visible on the web. Figure out what search engines they’re focusing on besides the obvious ones. Yahoo and Google are so popular they’re basically freebies! While some companies will offer URL submission to search engines alongside many other options, it’s not worth paying for that part unless they’ve got a comprehensive list of relevant search engines to submit to. Maybe they’ll offer to keyword optimize your site, in which case you’ll want to know what keywords they’ll use, the density of keyword use, and whether or not they use meta or alt tags.

Finally, it doesn’t really matter what services are offered, as long as the company uses “SEO” or “SEM”. Although, SEM will be more valuable than SEO, because SEM includes SEO as well as other marketing strategies. Even though im sure not all companies are the same in packages. Just simply put, the company could just be charging you for what you could do yourself. If shopping, look for websites with noteable backgroundsand ask about all services offered. Eventually, when you feel your research is sufficient and you know you will get the best value for your money, you can proudly make a efficiently wise decision.

What Requires Special Attention when Designing a Web Page?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

When designing a web page, one has to consider how they are going to attract and retain visitors. One way of reaching online users is to design a website that ranks high in the search engines. Achieving a high search ranking requires creating a web page that is search engine friendly.

To build a search engine friendly web page, one should implement the following tools:

1. When a search engine ranks a website, they assess the value of the content. Web content needs to be relevant to the website’s purpose and rich in relevant key words. Relevant keywords should be included in the headlines. As well, the content has to be relevant to the site’s product or service. The text should be easy to read and free of spelling and grammar errors. The page should have an introduction and conclusion with a clear purpose of the site. Try to update your web page with fresh content regularly.

2. The design and layout of the site should be professional and unique. Pages should be quick to load so you should use small graphics and pictures that are professional and relevant to the site. Every image should have an “alt” label and a text link. Bright colors, irrelevant pictures, and odd flashing animation will result in a low search engine ranking. The layout should be consistent with uniform colors. The web page should be easy to navigate and the various applications should blend well. The site’s navigation bar should be clear with professional titles. As well, your contact information should be easy to locate. A site map is an important part of the web design. You should also make sure that you do have any “page not found” error pages. Every page should include the appropriate domain name and professionally designed logo.

3. Make your web design interactive. This will give your site a boost in search engine rankings. You can use such applications as a Blog, chat room, surveys, polls, discussion boards, contests, user feed back forms, etc.

4. Reciprocal linking is important to achieving a high search engine ranking. These links should be relevant to your site. Consider posting to business directories. Don’t use link farms and other low quality link sites as they will only lower your search engine ranking. Embed text links in your content paragraphs to increase your ranking.

A professional website design tells a visitor and search engine robot that your site is professional and trustworthy. Search engine spiders and robots score professional websites high in the search engines. Because a high search engine ranking is so important, designing a web site takes time and good planning. There are professional web site design companies that are experts in creating web pages that achieve high search engine rankings. Using a web design company will significantly increase your search engine ranking.

Because the majority of online users use a search engine to locate a website, it is essential that your web pages are designed to be search engine friendly.

How To Boost Your Website Traffic Instantly

Monday, September 21st, 2009

You can help to increase your website traffic right away. Pay per click is the obvious solution but that would be too easy, so let’s look at some free ways of boosting your traffic. If you do not blog as yet, set one up today for free as blogging is the most convenient example. Write a post or posts with keywords related to your topic or niche, and then use the ping services to get the word out. These services will introduce your link to many blog directories and sites. The more you do it, the more your website traffic will improve, but as far as an instant hit is concerned, you will get it in one day.

Post on Forums - there is a forum out there for most subjects and you can usually register for free. Search Google using your keywords and the word forum in order to find a relevant forum. As you are not allowed to promote your site straight away, write down to earth posts, offering help and advice, saying something with the popular threads and you will find people checking out your site on the same day at no cost.

Posting Articles - for quality monitoring purposes, some article directories run through it before posting, while others do not, so you can find an article with a link to your site the same day. Others may select your article and put them on their site with your authorship information appearing below showing a direct link to your site.

Digg it - Digg provides a marvelous opportunity for you to post amusing bits and pieces or a brief summary of your blog post, article post or prose text from your web site. It does not take much time to show up on their highly esteemed and top-ranking pages, once more providing a possible improvement to your website traffic.

Your List of Emails - it is incredible that you do not have a list yet! There are many people on the web who have not constructed their own email list, it is quite extraordinary. The good thing about a list is you can pre-set a series of messages to remind them to visit your website, and you can send out an email broadcast at any time telling them to visit your site for the latest special offer or piece of advice - viola - instant boost to website traffic.

Joint ventures sometimes work in a day and sometimes they do not. If you receive an announcement from another website related to your subject, then you can offer something significant to them and their customers as well. Your preferred option would be to offer something valuable, namely, a free report or a product and you share the profit with the list owner in the end. Having thousands of names on their lists is common for many people and through this they get a good opportunity to increase the traffic to their web site.

Determining the Ideal Search Engine Marketing Company for Your Goals

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Choosing the right search engine marketing company (SEM) is not an easy task. Before choosing the first company you find, you should consider several different things to help determine your specific needs. This will ensure the SEM company hired to help your business will work best for you.

Finding A SEM Company To Trust

The most important factor is that you choose a SEM company you can trust. Meet with several different companies to discuss some plans before delving into detailed plans. Your business will enter into a relationship with the company and as this relationship develops, information pertinent to the success of your business will be released. If the company cannot be trusted, you are risking your business’ well being.

To help gauge whether or not the search engine marketing company can be trusted, ask them to provide references. If they are reluctant to provide references, this is a major red flag, as any search engine marketing company with experience and a good reputation in the industry should not fear this. If the company doesn’t have references to provide due to a lack of experience, you’ll need to proceed with caution and gauge other aspects of the interview to determine if they are worth the shot.

Now you should ask yourself if the company answered all your questions to the fullest potential or did they try cleverly dodging some? If that particular SEM company can answer all of your questions and without hesitating, elaborating on details and fully explains the processes to you, it is probably a safe assumption that the company is trustworthy.

If the search engine marketing company tries to pressure you into anything or services you don’t need or understand, do not trust them. However, understand that sometimes they will point out problems with your site. If they are big problems, then you should correct time because there is no point in paying for advertising is your site cannot convert interested visitors into paying customers.

Identify the Services You Need

Not all SEM companies are all equal to each other. Though many of the basic services are similar like search engine optimization, pay-for-inclusion services, pay-per-click advertisement. Several different things are involved with Search Engine like site re-design to new marketing and content for building back links-Links from your site to other reputable sites to help increase your rankings naturally. In pay-per-click campaigns, your company will be advertised in the search engine results page on the sidebars, and each time the ad is clicked, you will have to pay. The Pay for inclusion services will allow you to pay for Search engines crawl a certain amount of pages on your website with a specific frequency.

Find a Comfortable Risk Level

Any search engine marketing plan will require an investment before knowing if and how much money the company will earn back in new customers and sales. It is important that you determine beforehand how much risk you are willing to take. Do not let the company pressure you into more.

Take your time in finding and choosing a search engine marketing company. Because of the investment and importance of the business relationship, this is something that should not be rushed into if you expect the best possible results. The search engine marketing company you ultimately choose should understand and be willing to help you with any aspect of making the decision on the right company for your needs.

Design Structure

Web design firms all have individual procedures and standards for laying out a website. In some areas these procedures will overlap, but many are very different. This does not necessarily affect the quality of their web design.

You might want to take a look at your competition to get a better idea of how your website should be modeled. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel In this regard. One thing you do want to do is keep the meat of your design within a rectangle that is 1024px wide by 768px high.

SEO

SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. A lot of web marketers claim to have it down pat. All you have to do is ask for their results. Listening to someone about how to promote or market your website should be approached very carefully. Ask for details about their successes.

This task is very dynamic and techniques are always changing in reaction to new rules. You may find that you need to adjust your campaign when the results fade. So be sure to have web design firms that you work with account for their efforts and the results that they provide you.

How To Find The Right Affiliate Marketing Product To Promote Online

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Finding the right product to promote is essential to succeed with affiliate marketing. There are millions of affiliate products out around, but not all of them will make you money. Some products are horrible and don’t work as promised. Another product might be fantastic, but its landing page is bad so visitors are scared away. To make money as an affiliate marketing, you need to find a product that’s proven to make money for its affiliates. Why promote something that nobody is buying?

To find our product, we are going to look at the Clickbank network. While there are many good affiliate networks out there, Clickbank is one of the best for those starting out. They have an enormous selection of digital products to sell, they always pay out on time, and it is easy to get accepted into the network. Unlike other affiliate networks that make you apply to promote a certain offer, Clickbank lets you promote every offer on their network right away.

Your first step when deciding on a product to promote, is to decide a niche. The best way to do this is to brainstorm and write down five or ten topics you think you would be interested in. When promoting a product, you will be doing a lot of research and writing about it, so make sure the topics you write down aren’t something that will bore you to death.

Once you have everything written down, visit the Marketplace section in your Clickbank account. Clickbank has its products divided into categories, so choose an appropriate category and do a search for each of your topics. In the search results, you will get a list of affiliate products that best match your search term. Underneath each product description, you will see a list of different metrics.

The most important metric to look at, is the product’s gravity score. Gravity is a Clickbank formula that tells you how many recent sales affiliates have been making with this product. If many people are making sales with this product then you should have no problems promoting this product as well. As a rule of thumb, try and pick a product with a gravity score over 35. The other metric to look at is the dollars per sale. If you are going to use pay per click marketing to promote your product, then pick a payout greater than $30 per sale. By choosing a high enough payout, you can cover any advertising expenses and make a good profit.

Using the two metrics talked about above, write down a list of products that meet these criteria. Now pick the one that you would be most interested in researching about and promoting. You already recognize that other affiliates are having success making money with these products, so the key here is picking the product that will keep your interest so you can promote it successfully. This is the first step towards making money online.

Keyword Research And Its Power Over Your Market

Monday, July 13th, 2009

One it is easy as can be to find what your target market is searching for, and yes they come online to find you. The second is there is literally a market for everything if you find the right keywords.

There are several methods to doing keyword research, I am going to tell you exactly what I do because there are all these ebooks and scams out there to try to disclose some secret and there is no secret. I do fine using a very very very easy method. The first thing I want to say though is for your main website pick 3 main keywords, then make sub pages for any other keywords. Do not try to promote a single webpage for 25 keywords.

Now I go to Google and search for keyword tool. The first result is the Google Tool and the 2nd result is the wordtracker tool. Both give you similar numbers which you want, but I just use the Google one. It is part of adwords and it works. I make money online, and I use it.

Once you are in type in what your product is and then find some keywords. Here is what I look for. I look for one that has over 1 million searches (if your market is that vast) and I place it on a pedestal. Best case scenario is I rank number one for that keyword. Then I assume I am not going to and I set it aside. Now I look for a keyword that maybe contains that keyword but are 3-5 words that also has between 30,000 and 130,000 searches. That is my main keyword. Then I pick 2 more that have about 100,000 searches. I then make sub pages for any word over 30,000 and I build my links.

That is how you hit everyone in your market. I just told you how to do excellent keyword research in a paragraph, not in an entire ebook. Now put your keywords in your TITLE tags on your website, so many people dont do this. Scrap your company name, it isnt going to make you the money, put your keywords in the title. Now build links with anchor text that is the same as your keywords, soon you to will make a lot of money on the internet.
