Viral Marketing is a form of marketing that uses email marketing and social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to accomplish other marketing objectives through self replicating viral processes. Its like word of mouth but only on the internet and can greatly multiply your product awareness. Here are a few tips to set you in the right direction.

1. Give Something Away At No Cost: Viral marketing is proof that when marketers make a compelling offer, the sky is the limit when it comes to the potential results so if this is done properly your brand awareness will soar. Create an ebook or a short teaser video series or a multiple 3 or 4 part email campaign that gives relevant information or knowledge on a subject and/or teaches how to do something. People love FREE so if you give it to them and they will come and if its good information they will email about it or pass the info on and thus it becomes viral setting you up for a potential sales. Just ask them to pass it on if they like it and emphasize FREE.

2. Practice “Delayed Gratification”: Give away complimentary teaser information that gives you a hint of whats in the complete version or give away complimentary software programs that carry out powerful functions but not as much as you get in the “Pro” version or that can be used for a short specified period of time. This is a viral marketing pros’s trump card as it allows the customer a chance to start using your service and creates the desire to invest in the complete version if they like the limited use version. This builds trust and allows your potential customer to become accustomed to having your service and greatly increases the opportunity for a sale or subscription to your product or service with great potential for repeat sales.

3. Keep Your Competitors in Mind: Do a joint venture (JV) and write your material for them. Have them send one of your articles out to their list and put their affiliate link in it and both your chances of making a sale are increased tremendously as you already have a highly targeted audience who will rave about you and make a purchase if you have a great product, besides it gives your competitors an opportunity to earn money by promoting your products and receiving a share of the profits rather than just relying on their own products all the time. Trust me…you’ll generate a lot more money by working alongside competitors in the same industry than you will alone. Think outside the box and think of your competitors as potential partners, figure out how to add value to them and work on your free material to send to their list and watch your business soar!
